Have something you want everyone to know about? Just want to connect with people going through what you are? Want it to better target your audience?
The Tipping point will change how you see and interact in the world, and now with Facebook. When I first read it years ago my mind was blow away by everything that is possible. Today with technology, I bet you’re so grateful you’ve read this book.
What I’m really pumped about is the new search feature on Facebook. For example, I love love love the book “The Tipping Point” by Malcom Gladwell and now I can easily connect with 10,000 other fans here. (Side note during the time it took me to write this, the fan page hit 11K) HOW? Simply find your key words and search it in facebook, don’t immediately click the product or group, scroll to the botton where it says “See More Results” and you can find what Business Profiles, Groups, web results and most importantly for a connector what your friends are saying, and what everyone else is saying.
This is the Tipping Point in action. If you read that page well it’s going to help people connect the dots faster than before online. I’d love to hear Malcom’s thoughts with this new technology, so if you find anything, please paste links in the comments below. To sum it up now: It’s your idea and passion + Facebook friends + Search function like Wikipedia
Why I love These New Facebook Search Features
A. It creates a social wild fire, and spreads FAST.
When your looking at your newsfeed and you see your friend likes any movie, product, book, concept, saying, etc. The minute they hit that like button (if it wasn’t already in their profile), it casts out to the # amount of friends you have. It’s word of mouth advertising on fire, it moves fast.
B. We can now connect with other people who love what we love.
We can now easily reach out and connect with people we find through our results. You’ll be excited by what you find, there is so much talent here on Facebook. Not impressed with what you find, you may not be a connector. Find one (ahem me), and determine if you are a Maven or a Salesperson and start identifying others in your network too.
C. We can see who else of our friends has mentioned the keyword ‘Tipping Point’ in the past few months.
For me, my excitement is coming from finding who else is talking about Tipping Point. For you it may be real estate, or maybe you’re searching for a new job, struggling with some disease and want to connect with others, love books and want to find others who read what you read and see how they’re applying it. You’ll be amazed by what you’ll find people to be talking about. Twitter also has a great search feature at search.twitter.com
D. We get to learn so much faster!!
That’s great if you’re like me and you love reading, that’s also great for you if you hate reading. Book reviews (and cliff-notes) galore =) Need to do your due diligence, search for product and company reviews too.
Community Pages on the Horizon
Good News! Facebook is up to something brilliant. They’ve got Community Pages as their next big thing and if you’re a part of that community, you’ll be in a position to connect and collaborate with people who like what you like. BAM. Instant collaboration. Get a few of those people on your SKYPE, chat them up see what they’re all about and you”ll be amazed at what you can create.
What can I do today to start making
my own Tipping Point?
Grow Your Targeted Audience
If you haven’t yet seen the current jokes about Facebook, visit youtube cartoons on South Park and laugh, learn or maybe roll your eyes. I get that it is a hilarious to many of us, dumb to some and extremely exciting to others. So what’s the big deal with Facebook Friends?
One of my mentors Chris Record wrote a great article, jammed packed for the business minded people, and you can find it here and grow to 5000. It’s a great way to grow your network in your particular industry. Now, it was written back in November of 2009 so there are definitely some new highlights with the new search function as mentioned above.
There is a fun mini video at the bottom illustrating why numbers are important here, a domino game of 10 just isn’t as exciting as a bigger masterpiece.
Be Inspired to Make Something
Love to knit? Start a group? Love to make money? Learn from those who are. Great at fixing old car? Get the word out faster. Have gripes with some policy? Get your message out. Mashable recently featured this school of classmates who organized their own walk out via social media
How about with YouTube, I found this nice article reviewing 2009 video hits, great tips on viral videos.
People are creating new content every day, it’s exciting and it’s happening fast. Paul Guillen has been quoted saying “By Creating Compelling content, you can become a celebrity.”
Want to be inspired? My friend I connected with online Avram Gonzales is making video’s every day of something new he’s experienced while getting his Masters at Colorado state in Business. The term celebrity isn’t to far away for this bright entrepreneur.
Commit to participating
Once you decide – decide, Commit. Don’t just say maybe one day. Decide today, that somehow, somewhere, you will be successful by using these tools. I know you will be because you’re reading this article, you have a thirst and a desire, that’s the best place to start.
I challenge you to focus on other Tipping Points you may already be a part of, dream about what you could create and talk about it on Facebook. Then when you go and search, you’ll know who else is in the game. Let’s collaborate, I invite you to give us some video and/or blog responses. Dreamosity readers let’s get this material out there!

Check out this mini Video on why Growing Your Targeted audience to 5000 is important: DOMNIO EFFECT because once you start it, you can’t stop it. I often post things in my blogs because I know, some little instinct I have says I’ll want to use this again and again. This video I found on Fotolia and just had to share the vision, the possibility. To me this little clip is a metaphor for paving the way.
