love Love Never Fails: 3 exercises to experience more love.

One of my favorite quotes  is the 1 Corinthians 13:3- yes the famous love quote. Everyone has at least heard it in a wedding or has it written out somewhere.

If you’re like me and constantly seeking to experience life at a greater level, believe that our words and internal dialogue are powerful, and like mixing things up a bit. Try these exercises for a new twist on the scripture.

1. Replace the word ‘love’ with YOUR First name. I’ll use mine for the example.  Marcelle is patient, Marcelle is kind. She does not envy, she does not boast. She is not rude, she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, she keeps no record of wrongs. Marcelle does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. She always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Do this for the entire scripture and say it out loud, it’s pretty powerful. Sometimes we don’t see ourselves in the best light & it might not sound true, but if we’re striving for greatness, this helps us get a new, powerful perspective. My favorite affirmation would be ‘she is not easily angered.’

2. The second exercise is with someone you want to love better. Replace the word ‘love’ with someone in your life who needs “EGR”. EGR is a term I learned in college for those in your life where ‘extra grace is required’. It can be different people at different times. Maybe it’s a parent, sibling, downline member or a roommate. It could be anyone you’re struggling to love and see in good light. So you take that person and replace the word love with their name. We’ll use my imaginary giraffe friend Penelope. Penelope is patient, Penelope is kind. You get the idea. I can’t begin to share how powerful this is when we really start to see those EGRs in this light, your entire relationship will grow in profound ways.

3. The third exercise is with your creator. I’m not always on the same page with Him, my ego self likes to be right but this exercise usually gets me where I know I should be. So insert love with the word God. God is patient, God is kind, God does not envy…. God never fails. Again, pretty powerful isn’t it?

I wrote this blog initially for Valentines, but it works for any time of the year really. It’s nice to just reflecting on love, and what it means.

Please share with those who you know will appreciate this message of love. Thanks & love.
